Helping you with your oral hygiene is one of the most important aspects of our practice. We are fortunate to have as part of our team a highly trained, tertiary educated dental hygienist, who will play a vital role in your oral health care. Hygienists are valued members of the dental teams throughout the world.
Performing many procedures to help you achieve and maintain complete oral health, our hygienist, will remove plaque and tartar build-up from your teeth often from below your gum-line, where you cannot see it.
Our hygienist can also provide essential advice regarding effective oral hygiene procedures. Indeed, one of the hygienist’s chief roles is that of dental educator. The hygienist can provide dietary advice insofar as it affects dental health.
Various procedures such as salivary function testing may be performed by the hygienist for patients who have a high tooth decay rate.
Hygienists may take radiographs and can apply tooth decay-preventive agents, such as pit and fissure sealants. The hygienist will always work in collaboration with Dr Baetz and under his guidance.
We strongly believe that one of the most important areas of our practice is to develop with you a preventive care programme that can easily be incorporated into your daily “at home” oral care routine. The main purpose of preventive dental care is to, as the term suggests, prevent potential oral health problems in their early stage and intervene before more severe problems develop. If such a plan is successfully followed, you should be able to have a healthy dentition for life.
Please note any surgical or invasive procedure carries risk. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion by a suitably qualified healthcare professional.
